This 8mm silver tungsten Muonionalusta meteorite wedding band with a hammered finish is one of our best designs. The hammered design combined with a real meteorite looks extraordinary and is sure to be complimented. Plus, with our snug-fitting interior shape, this not only looks great, it feels great on your fingers too. The first fragment of the Muonionalusta meteorite was discovered in 1906 near the village of Kitkiöjärvi. About forty are known today, some quite large. Other debris was found in the Payara district of Norrbotten County, about 140 kilometers (87 miles) north of the Arctic Circle.
The meteorite was first described in 1910 by Prof. A. G. Högbom, who named it after the nearby site of Muonionalusta on the Muonio River. The Muonionalusta meteorite is probably the oldest known meteorite (4.5653 ± 0.001 billion years old) and marks the first occurrence of stishovite in an iron meteorite. You will truly have a ring that is out of this world.
